Dear Families and Friends:

There are so many wonderful things happening all around our school.  The CUF raffle is going well.  Our Open House is just around the corner and our Scholarship Night is March 3rd.  We just ended Catholic Schools Week with masses at the parish and a terrific bake sale by our Home and School Association.  In the midst of all this terrific energy we continue to look ahead to next year.  Because of our Open House on February 9th, we always try to provide the most up to date tuition rates.  On January 31st we held a meeting with the School Finance Council, School Advisory Council, Parish Finance Council and the Parish Pastoral Council.  We evaluated all of the income and expenditures for both the school and parish.  Just like our home budgets, we have to make sure that we have enough money coming in to pay our bills.  The School Advisory Council (SAC) approved an increase in tuition of 3%.  For each student this works out to be an additional $10 per month if you are on the monthly payment plan.  While we understand the difficulties that we all face economically, we have these same challenges with the school budget.  In fact, this is why we are conducting the CUF raffle—to raise additional financial aid.  We hope that by reaching our $60,000 goal we will be able to give out $150,000 in aid next year.  While this still does not cover all the requests for aid, it will help in the long run.  (Last year we had requests of almost $240,000 for tuition assistance.)

We are off to an impressive start with our Catholic United Financial Raffle.  Almost 7500 tickets have been disbursed and people are selling all over the state of Minnesota and beyond.  Because of gambling laws in the state of Minnesota, we need to get all of the tickets back, sold and unsold, so that we can keep track of the tickets.  Please turn in tickets and money to Rosie in the main office or send them along with your child to their classroom as soon as possible.  All of us working together will make this happen!

If you are due for renewal of your subscriptions, via our magazine fund drive, you can go to our great website, www.dmcs.cc, and follow the instructions listed there.  The student that you have supported in the past will still get the credit for this sale.  The Magazine drive will be in April.

FAITH MINUTE from the Catechism:  CCC 1889

“This is the path of charity, that is, of the love of God and of neighbor.  Charity is the greatest social commandment.  It respects others and their rights.  It requires the practice of justice and it alone makes us capable of it.  Charity inspires a life of self-giving.”

If you have kudos, comments or concerns please email me or stop by my office.  The coffee is always on.  My email address is bseidel@divinemercy.cc.  Let us continue to trust in God’s providential care.  He is always faithful!
